Event Overview: Volume 2 of Biographical Sketches from Orangeburgh District, SC is now available. It is a continuation of volume 1 and covers the period from 1737 to 1750.
Together the two volumes include documented narratives of 250 European individuals who were part of the first permanent settlement in Orangeburgh Township. Women whose maiden names have been identified get their own sketches, separate from their husbands’ stories. In addition to exploring events through their perspectives, this extends their lineages back at least another generation.
Some of the family lines that have their beginnings in the second volume include Amaker, Chevillette, Giessendanner, Jennings, Judy, Murph, Nagely, another Ott line, Rowe, Shaumlofell, Shulers, Till, Tilley, Ulmer, Utsey, Whetstone, Wolfes, and Yonn. In addition, there are sketches for some of the second generation families of Dietrick, Hesse, Huber/Hoover, Inabinet, Larey, Roth, Salley, and Snell.
Admission Details:
• Entrance Fee: This free event is open to the public and is a must-attend for historical enthusiasts, genealogists, and anyone interested in preserving Orangeburg County’s rich heritage.
• RSVP: Seating is limited, so please grab your free ticket.
• Attendees are encouraged to dress warmly as the archives are kept cool.

• Event Format: This is an indoor event, but chairs are limited.
• Duration: The event will last approximately 2 hours and will need to start on time. Doors open and seating starts at 2:30pm.
• Parking: Limited parking is available at the society; carpooling is encouraged.
